Long time no blog

Dear me - I haven't blogged in ages.
We went to Ally Pally and had a great time - nice to meet Dale
and Ian at last and receive a wonderful Pommie Bag. It's still taking time to digest everything we saw and put away everything we got!

Visit to Newark

Went to the Crafty Notions open day in Newark and had a great day being entertained by Sarah Lawrence.
She says "Guess you don't know how I did these"

Free Postcard

Yesterday I received the wonderful new books"Stitches, Straps and Layers" by Maggie Grey and "Stitching the Textured Surface" by Carol McFee and Linda Monk - they arrived SO quickly too - thanks for that Maggie - such efficiency!
I got this lovely postcard which I'm assuming is one oj Carol's? though it doesn't seem to be identified - anyway thanks! - I'll treasure it and I love the books.

These are a few of my favourite crocs!

Thought I would join in the plate day with Elizabeth - elizabeth-aboutnewyork.blogspot.com and Dale - downunderdale.blogspot.com - with their plate day - what a great idea Elizabeth!- must learn how to just use people's names as links too - how do you do that?

Royal Worcester Vine Harvest

This cake plate and knife were Mum's - love the grapes - and everything about it really!

Spode Italian

Love love love blue plates! This one is such a lovely cobalt blue...

Clarice Cliff Nasturtiums and Crocus

I love the colours and shapes of Clarice Cliff - The crocus cup and saucer were a"Thank you" for Eileen and Luke's wedding...

Royal Doulton Bunnykins dish

This was bought nearly 60 years ago for my brother as he had a tendency to put plates on his head and this was considered too heavy? It was then used for years as a dog water dish! Rescued now and given pride of place!

Portmeirion Jug

We use Botanic Garden every day - love flowers - must be why I did a botany degree! and love the shape of this jug...

"Such a Jocund Company"

Finally finished the Daffodils!
The base was covered with a stitched, distressed and sprayed napkin grid then individual daffodils picked out and "enamelled" with Opals embossing enamel.
The whole was then variously french knotted, straight and cross-stitched into.

Catalogue killing time again

It's nearly time for Catalogue Kiling with Maggie so I though I'd show some of the ink experiments I did a while ago - all sprayed on gesso with salt added and all exciting - colours would probably have looked better in photos rather than scanned but still reasonable I think.
Inks go left to right: Quink Royal Blue Washable, Quink Blue/Black, Quink Black, Quink Red, WH Smith Brown, WHSmith Black (probably neither still available) and Caran d'Ache Amazon - the star of the show!
Back to the Daffodils for a bit now I think...

Next thing is to do some sewing, fix it all together and do some more sewing!

Snow - Tex

I piled Snow - Tex onto an art canvas board and sprayed it - looks like a piece of stone!

Daffodil foreground

Played around with different colours of sprays and did more attacking with the soldering iron!

Daffodil background

I wet the bonded serviette then rubbed areas away, sprayed it with Color Wash and Creative Colour Sprays then attacked the edges with th soldering iron. I sprayed it again to cover up the white bits.

Playing with Daffodils

I've been playing around with my favourite flowers - Daffodils.
These are a paper serviette bondawebbed onto white felt.
